WHEDco Hits the Ball Out of the Park at Yankee Stadium
On Wednesday, June 30th 250 guests gathered in a luxury suite in Yankee Stadium for WHEDco’s Step Up to the Plate Benefit & Ballgame to celebrate outstanding friends of WHEDco. The event honored John & Lorna Howard, long-time supporters of WHEDco; Jay Mandelbaum, Executive Vice President of JP Morgan Chase; and the Greater NY Partnership, an initiative of the Mayor’s office that pairs for profit and non profit executives in New York City. WHEDco thanks our Grand Slam sponsors, JP Morgan Chase and David Yurman Design, and our hosts, the World Champion New York Yankees. After the awards ceremony, guests enjoyed the Yankees v. Mariners ballgame, a silent auction, and a performance by WHEDco’s student drummers.

Bronx Summer Walks 2010
On Saturday, June 19th, WHEDco hosted the first of 3 Bronx Summer Walks events, closing down East 167th Street between Gerard and Jerome Avenues.
The “Arts Day” featured performances by WHEDco After school students (pictured at left).
Bronx Summer Walks is a part of the NYC Department of Transportation Weekend Walks program, which creates temporary pedestrian-only streets all over New York City to provide opportunities for community members to relax and discover new things about their neighborhoods.

WHEDco hosted the second “Go Green Day” of Bronx Summer Walks this past Saturday, June 26th. Youth, adults and families gathered for a day of green living demonstrations, dancing, food, and fun.The last Bronx Summer Walks “Get Fit Day” will take place on Saturday, July 10th; view our flyer here.
