Position Title: Development Associate
Reports To:Director of Development
RESPONSIBILITIES: Support development team with all fundraising and external communications.
- Manage and maintain donor database, gift entry and acknowledgment process
- Manage specific initiatives, such as outreach campaigns, prospecting new sources of funding and interfacing with program staff
- Create content for website and newsletter
- Assist with annual event management
- Draft and edit correspondence and grant reports/proposals, and liaison with funders
- Other tasks as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA degree required
- 2+ years of experience in development, communications, non-profit or related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, grant writing experience a plus
- Must be a self-starter, able to work independently with strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- Creativity, a sense of humor, and a commitment to social justice
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Donor Perfect, Dreamweaver, Joomla and graphic design software is a plus, but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Writing and editing letters, creating presentation documents and other communications materials
Providing administrative and other support to Executive Director and the Housing & Community Development team
Assisting with housing and community development projects and events.

Position Title: Assistant Project Manager, Community Development
Reports To: Project Manager, Community Development
RESPONSIBILITIES:
WHEDco’s green mixed-use developments in the South Bronx provide an opportunity for us to expand and deepen comprehensive neighborhood planning efforts around issues of commercial revitalization, health, community safety, and greening.
The Assistant Project Manager would help implement these collaborative efforts, along with other local community-based organizations, to engage or even help create formal and informal resident and merchant groups in developing a comprehensive community plan to be composed of these inter-related elements, which we believe are key to building more healthy and vibrant communities.
The Assistant Project Manager would help coordinate WHEDco’s efforts in Crotona East/Morrisania, Highbridge/Concourse and/or Melrose to improve:
Commercial revitalization: Help assess neighborhood residents’ needs, survey land uses, liaise with area brokers and property owners, attract new businesses, engage business owners in a merchant group, and improve the neighborhood through coordinated sales and community building activities, etc.
Healthy living: Help coordinate initiatives to improve opportunities for health and fitness among residents in WHEDco’s buildings (active design, urban farm, surveying) and in the broader community (better fruit/vegetable access, healthier bodegas, nutrition/cooking workshops, food/fitness assessments, etc).
Community safety: Help strengthen or innovate a collaborative process for addressing safety and crime issues, and advocate for the community on public safety issues, by working closely with local residents, elected officials, police precinct, business owners, religious organizations, and other community groups.
Greening: Help implement activities to green and beautify neighborhoods, businesses, and homes to create more appealing, healthy, sustainable and affordable places for residents, merchants, and workers to thrive in. Support green housing development and property management efforts as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration or related fields
At least 1-2 years experience in urban planning, community health, economic development organizing, advocacy, or real estate development
General knowledge of planning principles and community development in low-income neighborhoods.
Motivated, creative, and resourceful self-starter who takes initiative and works efficiently with minimal oversight
Able to attend community meetings and events in the evening and weekends as necessary.
Excellent team-building, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills

Position Title: Home Visitor Specialist
Reports To: Supervising Home Visitor
Program: Home Based Childcare Services Location: Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Supervising Home Visitor, the Home Visitor Specialist conducts home inspections in Brooklyn, Staten Island and Manhattan to verify whether the provider is following the enrollment agreement and acting in compliance with the regulations for enrollment. The inspections are aimed at fostering voluntary compliance with the enrollment agreement, verifying regulatory compliance, assessing risk to children from non-compliance and changing a legally-exempt provider’s enrollment status if necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•
Conduct on site inspections of currently enrolled legally-exempt family child care providers, to determine whether such caregivers are in compliance with New York State Health and Safety Standards.
•
When non-compliance is found the inspector must be able to:

Assess the safety of children in the provider’s care and the future risk to children in the provider’s care when non-compliance is found.
⇒
Assist the provider in developing a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) which satisfactorily addresses safety and risk issues.
⇒
Take appropriate action to safeguard children in subsidized care when the provider is unwilling or unable to meet health and safety requirements.
•
Provide individual technical assistance and support
• Input inspection outcomes into the Child Care Facility System (CCFS) database and send appropriate notifications to parent/provider on required next steps.
•
Work as an Enrollment Specialist to enroll legally-exempt child care providers, as needed
•
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
•
Candidates must have an AA degree or higher in early childhood, education, social services or similar field. Bilingual is a plus - Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Russian.
•
Candidates must be able to multi-task, and have excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
•
Candidates must also have solid computer skills, be familiar with Access, Excel and Microsoft Word. A background in early childhood education or elementary education is preferred. BA in Education, Human Services or similar filed is also preferred.
•
Candidates must be attentive to detail, team-minded, and be well-organized.
•
Candidates must be quick-learners, who are flexible enough to function professionally and objectively in all situations.

Position Title: Case Manager
Reports To: Project Coordinator
Program: Home Based Childcare Services
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Case Manager will facilitate the enrollment of all legally-exempt child care providers in the Bronx. Case Managers will be located at NYC HRA Job Centers and at Urban Horizons.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Review all provider enrollment applications for completeness
-
Input provider information into the Child Care Facility System (CCFS) database

Send notification to parent/provider of any missing information
-
Generate and mail acknowledgement of enrollment packet to provider and a copy to parent
-
Send enrollment information packet within the designated timeframe
-
Call sex offender registry
-
Generate and mail notice of Temporary Enrollment (TE) decision to provider
-
Generate and mail verification of TE status of legally-exempt provider to parent
-
Generate and mail notice of denial of enrollment to provider and a copy to parent
-
Generate and mail notice of enrollment withdrawal request to provider and a copy to parent.

Generate and mail notice of enrollment closing to provider and parent notify DSS of decision.
-
Flag any immediate concerns for home visits including, but not limited to, criminal histories, child removal, and health and safety. Inform supervisor of any concerns about the provider when reviewing attestations.

Provide information on training services, resources and CACFP to parents and providers during the enrollment process
-
Enter information in WHEDCo and CCFS databases as services are rendered
-
Review caseloads daily to ensure that timelines are being met
-
Maintain provider records home visit monitor forms, checklists intakes, clearances and other documents in an organized and systematized fashion
-
Generate report for renewal and mail out renewal applications within the designated timeframe.

Gather any training documentation the provider has to determine eligibility for the enhanced payment rate
-
Forward any information about public benefits provider receives to HRA
-
Maintain up to date calendars for services available at WHEDCo
-
Maintain confidentiality of the provider, parent and children
-
Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Candidate must have an AA degree or higher in early childhood, education, social services or similar field.
Bilingual is a plus - Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese.

Position Title: Criminal Review Case Manager
Reports To: Director of Home-based Childcare Services
Program: Home Based Childcare Services
Job Summary: The Criminal Review Case Manager will conduct reviews of and assist in enrollment decisions related to cases of providers with criminal convictions seeking to be enrolled as legally-exempt child care providers.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct daily reviews of criminal history reports categorized according to enrollment guidelines and specifications of penal law
-
Enter relevant decision in the CCFS database
-
Generate denial and closure letters related to criminal histories of providers and/or household members
-
Request documentations required for review of extenuating circumstances
-
Enter results of providers with no criminal history
-
Provide clients with guidance on the appropriate documents needed for review
-
Filing, scanning and indexing of documents as required
-
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
