Thanks to the generosity of our friends and supporters, WHEDco raised over $200,000 to help us continue to build healthy, thriving communities for families in the South Bronx.
The Benefit and Ballgame also gave us the opportunity to honor three long-time supporters of WHEDco’s work: JPMorgan Chase & Co., Philanthropic Leadership Honoree; Irving Place Capital, Corporate Leadership Honoree; and Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP, Commissioner of the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, Public Service Leadership Honoree. We’re grateful for their ongoing commitment to the families we serve.
Nicole Cruz, an eighth grade student who has participated in WHEDco’s After School Program and Summer Arts Day Camp since Kindergarten, was our special guest for the evening. During her speech, Nicole said: “The most important thing we learned in After School is that we can help our community and the planet.”
Thanks to all of our generous supporters, WHEDco is able to continue its work to provide lessons like these to Bronx students, giving them the opportunities and confidence they need to succeed.
Sincerest thanks to the New York Yankees for giving us another incredible night at the ballpark!
